TWCC to Host iHoops Skills Challenge

Brevard County Parks and Recreation and the Palm Bay Youth Basketball Association are hosting a free iHoops Skills Challenge Local Competition on Sunday, February 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ted Whitlock Community Center. The community center is located inside Palm Bay Regional Park, 1951 Malabar Road NW, in Palm Bay.

Local youngsters ages 9 to 14 (age as of May 14, 2010) have the opportunity to participate in the inaugural iHoops Skills Challenge. This national basketball skills competition provides boys and girls a free opportunity to showcase their basketball abilities in a time-based, half-court obstacle course. The iHoops Skills Challenge focuses on basketball skill development while encouraging participation in the game.

Participants may register the day of the event and must bring a copy of their birth certificate and complete a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. A copy of the registration/waiver form is available online at HYPERLINK "http://www.iHoops.com/skillschallenge" www.iHoops.com/skillschallenge.

First place champions from this local competition will have the opportunity to advance to one of twenty-nine regional competitions occurring in NBA team markets across the country in hopes of advancing to the national finals in Orlando, Florida.
